Get to Know Just Knock
Just Knock records things that happen and time spent doing things. You decide what to record, then use a rhythm, a Gesture, or a button to record it.

Find Your Way Around
The main canvas is the screen where you perform your inputs. At the top, use the waveform-and-plus icon to open Rules, the chart icon to open Data, and the gear icon to open Settings.
- Rules: create and manage what you record, use Record, Start, or End, and open Recent Input.
- Data: see counts and time by Rule, or export with Just Knock Pro.
- Settings: manage Gestures, adjust recognition and feedback, check alerts, and find help.
Note: Knock means tapping or holding on the screen inside Just Knock. It does not mean knocking on the back of your iPhone. Inputs are not recognized while another app is open or your phone is locked.
Understand Rules and Triggers
A Rule describes what you want to record. A Moment marks something that happened, such as drinking water. An Activity records a period of time, such as a focus session.
A Trigger is the input assigned to a Rule. It can be a Knock, a Gesture, or an ordered combination of both. Each part of a combination is a Step.
A Knock belongs to its Trigger. A Gesture comes from a shared library and can be used in more than one Trigger. Rules do not need a Trigger: an enabled Rule can also be used with its button in Rules.
Use or Replay the Introduction
On first use, Create My First Rule walks you through choosing a Rule type, naming it, and recording a Knock twice. After saving, perform that Knock on the main canvas to create your first real record. Explore First lets you skip the setup.
To practice the introduction later, open Settings → About → Replay Introduction. This replay does not create a Rule or change your Data. You can choose Create a New Rule afterward.
Common Questions
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account is required. Recording, recognition, statistics, and the introduction work locally. The full User Guide is on justknock.app and needs an internet connection to load. Purchases, purchase restoration, external support pages, and sending feedback may also need a connection. Just Knock does not provide its own account or cloud-sync service.
Can I use Just Knock without performing a complex Gesture?
Yes. Use Record, Start, or End in Rules. With VoiceOver enabled, the main canvas also provides Trigger Input for accessible Tap, Hold, and built-in multi-finger inputs. You do not need to create a complicated Trigger to use a Rule.
