Adjust Feedback and Alerts
Settings controls how input is recognized, how the app responds, and what the system displays. Display settings do not replace a Rule or change its records.

Adjust Recognition
Open Settings → Input & Recognition. Gestures opens the shared library. Recognition Threshold sets the minimum match score for single-finger drawings.
A higher threshold requires a closer match. A lower threshold accepts more variation but can also accept unintended drawings. Make small changes and practice the intended Gesture after each change.
This slider does not change Knock rhythm tolerance or built-in multi-finger Gesture recognition. For a Knock, choose Sensitivity when recording it.
Choose On-Screen and In-App Feedback
Open Settings → Feedback & Alerts.
- Unrecognized Text: show text when an input is not recognized or does not match a Rule.
- Recognized Text: show confirmation when a Rule completes.
- Trigger Progress Text: show progress through a multi-step Trigger.
- Animate Background: animate the main-screen background for progress and Rule results.
- Sound Effects: play sounds for Knock input and Rule results. Gesture input itself remains silent.
Turning off confirmation text or sound does not prevent a Rule from recording. Use Data or the in-progress Activities panel to check the result.
Get an Automatic-End Alert
- Give the Activity an automatic-end duration in its Rule.
- Open Settings → Feedback & Alerts.
- Turn on Alert when an Activity ends and allow the notification request.
- Check Notification Permission. If it is Off, use Open System Settings to review permission.
This switch is off by default. It requests alerts for automatically ended Activities, not an alert for every manual End. System settings can affect whether and how an alert is presented.
Show an Activity on the Lock Screen
In Settings → Feedback & Alerts, turn on Show on Lock Screen. This is on by default. Check whether Live Activities is shown as available.
An in-progress Activity can show its name and elapsed time or automatic-end countdown on the Lock Screen, and on Dynamic Island where supported. Each in-progress Activity has its own card. Use the card's End control to end it; the system may require you to unlock first.
Lock Screen display and end alerts are independent. Turning either off does not remove your records. System limits can end a card's display before a long Activity finishes. A countdown may remain at zero until you reopen the app; open Just Knock to let it update the record and display state.
Common Questions
I see no success message. Did it fail?
Not necessarily. Check Recognized Text in Feedback & Alerts, then inspect Data or the Activity's state. A hidden message is different from an input that did not match.
Do I need notifications to record an Activity?
No. Notifications are optional. Recording, automatic end, and Lock Screen display are separate from the permission to show an alert. See No Alert Appeared.
