View and Export Data

For Just Knock 1.0 Last reviewed:

Data summarizes your records by Rule. It is a statistics view, not a screen for editing individual records.

On This Page

Choose a Range and View

Open Data from the chart icon on the main canvas. Choose Today, This Week, This Month, or All. Week and month use your device's current calendar periods, rather than a rolling seven or thirty days.

  • List: see each Rule's summary. Sort with Recent, Times, or Time.
  • Time: compare time spent on Activities.
  • Times: compare record counts by Rule.

Understand Counts and Time

A Moment adds one to the count when it is recorded within the selected range.

An Activity adds one to the count after it has ended, and only if its start time falls within the selected range. An in-progress Activity does not yet add to the completed count.

Activity time includes the portion that overlaps the selected range, including elapsed time for Activities still in progress.

For example, an Activity that starts at 11:50 p.m. and ends at 12:10 a.m. contributes ten minutes to the new day's Time, but no new-day completed count because it started the previous day. This is why time and counts do not always increase together.

Moment Rules do not add Activity duration. Deleted Rules can remain in Data with a Deleted marker when they have relevant records.

Export Your Data

Export requires Just Knock Pro.

Before You Continue: Export includes all records, not only the range, view, or order currently displayed in Data. Check the destination and contents before sharing a file with someone else.

  1. Open Data → Export Data.
  2. Choose CSV or JSON.
  3. Use the system share sheet to save or share the file.

CSV contains record rows, including Rule name and type, start and end times, duration, and recording source. It is suitable for opening in a spreadsheet.

JSON includes records, saved Rules and their Triggers, custom Gestures, and export metadata. Built-in Gesture definitions are not included. The current app has no import or restore-from-file feature, so this is not a promise of a restorable app backup.

For an in-progress Activity, the exported end time and completed duration are empty. The live elapsed time shown in Data is not written as a completed duration in the export. Export can also contain record states excluded from displayed statistics, so counting file rows may not reproduce the chart totals.

Common Questions

Why is my Activity missing from Times but present in Time?

It may still be in progress, or it may have started before the selected period. Activity counts require an ended record with a start time inside the range. Time includes overlapping duration. Try All, then check whether the Activity has ended.

Is Recent Input the same as Data?

No. Recent Input shows recognized inputs and whether they matched a Rule. Data summarizes actual records. Practice does not add records, and clearing Recent Input does not clear Data.

Can I sync my records or import them on another device?

The current version stores data locally and does not provide account sync, iCloud sync, or an import feature. Restore Purchases restores eligible Pro access, not your records.
